A 3/8” brass flare cap that goes over the propane inlet. This serves two purposes:
protects the threads on the inlet
keeps the inside of the fire pit air/water tight
This may not be necessary for everyone, but useful if you will be around wet environments, or storing somewhere where the threads could get damaged.
